Volunteering

Active volunteers help drive costs down.  We are looking forward to seeing engaged residents contributing to the areas listed below.

If you have a skill set or interest not listed on this page, please contact us.  We appreciate initiative!

If you are interested in any of the opportunities listed below, please talk to a member of the Council or email ciderknollcouncil@gmail.com.

Wasp Nest Spraying Team
Throughout summer, wasp nests may become more prevalent.  The wasps might be ground-dwelling (yellow jackets) or build hanging hives (paper wasps or hornets).

Volunteers are needed to spray the smaller and easily accessible nests as they are identified.

To volunteer, you must be available at dusk to spray a nest, and before dusk to see the wasp activity and the location of the hive.  Keep in mind that the sun goes down earlier as the summer winds down.

In 2024, the cost of having a wasp nest sprayed by an exterminator was $200.  The Council is willing to pay this amount for large hives or challenging locations.  Otherwise, volunteers are preferred.

Pool Volunteers
Beginning in 2025, the pool gate will automatically open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM.  Pool volunteers will be needed to ensure that everyone leaves the pool area before 8 PM.  Other responsibilities include ensuring that pool attendees clean up after themselves and rules are followed.  Volunteers may be asked to help in other ways as needed.  This will be our first year without a lifeguard.  We want to ensure that the rules are being followed so that the pool won't need to be shut down.

Grounds Volunteers
Helps with watering, weeding, trimming shrubs, other tasks.  If there is a specific part of the community or a specific task you are interested in, please let us know.  If you are able to help with more challenging tasks such as removing dead shrubs, please consider volunteering.

Roofing Committee
With an impending project in the works, we'd like volunteers to help with planning.

HVAC Committee
This is a big expense for our community.  It would be nice to have some knowledgeable people on this committee for when issues arise.

Social Events
Help neighbors connect to each other by planning and decorating for social events.

Salting Volunteers
In the winter of 2024-2025, the salting volunteers successfully saved Cider Knoll thousands of dollars by salting the sidewalks.  Previous to this, salting was handled by snow contractors.
